Ho Chi Minh City – June 6, 2025 – Vietnam’s HVAC&R engineering community witnessed a historic moment with the official inauguration of the ASHRAE Vietnam Chapter – the formally recognized representative of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) in Vietnam.

The ceremony was held in the elegant ballroom of Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel, gathering more than 120 distinguished guests, including international ASHRAE leaders, representatives from technical universities, industry experts, and a wide range of engineers and companies in the HVAC&R sector.

With this milestone, Vietnam officially becomes a full-fledged Chapter of ASHRAE, opening unprecedented opportunities for the local engineering community:

Recognizing the Pioneers Behind the Journey

In their keynote speeches, Mr. Leong Cheng Wee, Director and Regional Chair of ASHRAE Region XIII, and Professor Chandra Sekhar, ASHRAE Vice President, officially presented the Chapter Charter and affirmed ASHRAE’s long-term commitment to supporting the Vietnamese engineering community.

During the appreciation segment, the organizing committee paid tribute to the pioneers who had quietly contributed over six years to building the Chapter:

• Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, President of VISRAE, representing the domestic academic community, delivered inspiring remarks at the ceremony

• Professor Le Chi Hiep, the first ASHRAE member in Vietnam

• Engineer Truong Ngoc Tinh, a loyal ASHRAE member for an outstanding 28 consecutive years
