About ASHRAE Vietnam ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers) officially established its presence in Vietnam after a long and promising journey. In 2018, after meeting with a key member of ASHRAE Region 13 by chance, the idea of forming an ASHRAE community in Vietnam was initiated. With the rapid growth of the economy and population, the demand for standards and advanced technologies in the RHVAC (Refrigeration, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) sector increased, particularly the need for networking and learning opportunities for the Vietnamese RHVAC engineering community to connect with the global industry. On November 23, 2019, the leadership of ASHRAE Region 13 officially visited Vietnam, assisting in the formation of the ASHRAE Vietnam Section, with more than 30 members registered with ASHRAE at that time. By February 2020, at the annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, ASHRAE officially approved the establishment of the ASHRAE Vietnam Section. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, global economic fluctuations that followed, and changes in the Vietnamese market, the official activities of ASHRAE in Vietnam were delayed. In 2023, ASHRAE Region 13 returned to Vietnam to continue its plan to support the ASHRAE community in Vietnam. By 2024, ASHRAE Vietnam initiated its first official activities, marking a significant milestone with the invitation of renowned speaker Wei Sun, one of the principal authors of ASHRAE’s book on Clean Room, to present on cleanroom topics at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Hanoi University of Science and Technology. On February 14, 2025, during the ASHRAE Annual Winter Conference held in Orlando, Florida, ASHRAE Headquarters officially approved the elevation of ASHRAE Vietnam Section to ASHRAE Vietnam Chapter. This marked a historic milestone, recognizing the dedication, growth, and strong community built by Vietnamese RHVAC engineers over the years. Following this approval, ASHRAE Region XIII formally hosted the Inauguration Ceremony of the ASHRAE Vietnam Chapter on June 6, 2025, a celebration attended by regional leaders, international delegates, and founding members in Vietnam. This event not only marked the birth of a new Chapter, but also affirmed Vietnam’s place in the global ASHRAE network. From this point forward, ASHRAE Vietnam Chapter is committed to deeper engagement with the engineering community, increased technical exchange, and wider implementation of ASHRAE standards across Vietnam’s HVAC&R industry. ASHRAE Vietnam is committed to building a strong, ever-growing community and contributing to the integration of Vietnam’s RHVAC industry with the global market.
